Please refer to the mag faq if you are unsure.
http://www.ktrange.com/articles/a4/a4.html

Lets add to a list here and we can add this and make an SU16 mag faq.

Works:
1. Colt (unknown specifics)
2. Adventure Line
3. Israeli Orlite
4. Simmons
5. Okays
6. Parsons
7. Coopers

Doesn't work:
1. USA Mags with drain holes and no markings on basepad.

Okay, here's some mags that work, and one that's crappy.
From left to right (all 30 rounders):
Colt, Adventure Line (new), Adventure Line (used a bit), Israeli Orlite (used a bit).
Top is an unknown, US-made steel mag I only keep around to show folks what not to buy!

This pic's the same, but shows the followers.

Notice that the Colt mag (now on far right) has the new, Green G.I. follower, the best. The steel one's at the bottom.
All these mags run great through my SU. The steel one stutters quite a bit, and moves around in the mag well to the point I only tried it once.

excelent, thanks flyer!! I posted the pics of the mags I have in the other thread and it looks to be exactly the same as the crappy steel one you say not to get. :( Looks like I need to find some new mags.

Oh, if it's not too much trouble could you measure the back of one of them that fits inside your stock. I wonder if these junky steel ones are just longer than others or something.

No need to measure... I know why it's not fitting right, I believe.
You've got to first angle the mag into the butt, seating it completely. Then, swivel the end of the mag towards the barrel of the rifle down and force it into place.
Actually, though, I did just compare it to one... the steel one is actually shorter by about a quarter inch.
Oh yeah: You put them into the stock bullets FIRST, so the curve of the mag is outside the butt, not inside. Won't fit at all the other way.

The FAQ pretty much coveres it all. I have a bunch of 20rd Colt, Adventure Line and Simmons. For 30s I have a bunch of Okays, Parsons, Adventure Lines, Coopers and a few Orlites. All the mags except the Orlites are aluminum... don't buy steel mags. I've replaced a bunch of followers with the anti-tilt green followers, still have a few more to do. The 1 20 with the green follower is a post ban Bush, the 2 with the black plastic followers are preban, blocked 5rd Colts made for hunting. The blocks can be removed restoring full capacity legally... but I use them for competition so I haven't bothered. It keeps me from loading too many rounds for the 2 rapid fire 10 round targets.

I'll post mine in a bit, but any one want to sell the Factory mags? I like 'em. I also change the followers out with Orange anti tilt followers on all my mags even my Orlite and Stock mags. If done wrong on the Stock mags you can make an illegal high cap BTW so be carefull.

Well here you go. Sorry for the bad pics, my camera is terrible.
I have one USGI, one Orlite, two Steel after market mags, and two Factory. Also please note after replacing the followers and minor adjustments the El Cheepo mags work great!

Do you know what brand the el cheapo's are? Do they have drainholes near the catch hole on top and in the follower on the bottom? Any markings on the basepad? And do they have movement forwards/backwards when latched in the gun? What were your "minor modifications"?

Also, Flyer, could you maybe measure one just for kicks? I'm really not retarded and tried for like half an hour to get these mags to fit and they seem to be a solid 1/2"+ too long to fit in to the stock no matter what I do.

Oh, where is the best place to buy new followers and springs?

No name or markings Mike. They have the drain holes. Probable Pro Mag or some other crapola (hoping that is an expectable word) My mods are just a general debur and cleaning. I also use a block and screw driver to make the mag slot protrusion like on the GI mags that stop the mag from going in to far. I had to replace the followers and turn the springs around as they where in backwards. My mags measure .869 wide, 2.5385 front to back, and roughly 7.5 inches top to bottom at the corner.

Check ebay here for orange Followers for $10

You'll also see the link to Magazine specialist in that link. A good source. They are the same as the Good Greens just orange :) What can I say I like that color!
