I have just aquired my fathers gov't issued, 1911 manufactured by Remington Rant?
have never heard or them, does anyon know anything about this company, or is just remington's old name? :?:
I took it apart, cleaned and oiled it, then to the range, handle's real nice, not that I could hit the broad side of a barn, but still enjoyed shooting it.

any info is appreicated, I'm going to try to google it

thx

It's Remington-Rand.
They made 1911s for the U.S. during WW1 and 2.
They made a LOT of 'em, too... they're fairly common.
Kinda funny... back when I worked security I used a Remington-Rand 1911 when I went through the firearm section.
That pistol was the ONLY ONE that never failed a single time during the entire course... and it went up against Sigs, Glocks, Berettas, etc..
VERY nice pistol.

P.S. Nope, not directly related to Remington, but instead the typewriter company.
Singer made quite a few 1911s, too! And they STILL run like sewing machines!

I realized I typo'd numerous times on the rand, but from what I've seen in this forum, I knew somone would know what I meant, will type slower in the future
it's great to shoot, my first larger caliber piston, I have a 9, 38 and 22 ammo is more expensive than the others
