I’ve been shooting with iron sights for 45 years! I just purchased a Sub 2k and the Mcarbo optic mount and the Mcarbo rear flip down/up peep sight. I also purchased a AT3 Tactical RD-50 Micro Reflex Red Dot Sight. I have not mounted them yet. However, I mocked them both up and it seems the red dot sight is pretty darn low, with the front sight in its view. Do I need to buy a riser, or do I just co-witness the optic with the front sight? Would an optic with a higher rise, like the Romeo 5, be better? Sorry for my ignorance, but this stuff is all new to me I’m old-school!

I watched a bunch of YouTube videos that show the red dot sighted in with the front sight, but my crazy mind is thinking the optic should be used alone, then flip it to the side when I want to use the iron sights. I’m just not sure if the optics need to be raised? I’ve also found front folding sights, even more confusing!

Hopefully you guys can shed some light on this for me!
