Ok, you experts, here's one for ya that the folks at GT either couldn't or wouldn't answer:

Is it possible to get a .40 top end and drop it directly on to a G26 frame, seeing as how they're identical or nearly identical? Someone at GT said you can definitely go the other way around (putting a 9mm barrel on a 27), but I'm interested to know if I can go UP in caliber, not down. Seems to me that a new slide, barrel, guide rod, springs, and possibly magaines would do the trick. Any takers?

I'm thinking no.
The metal lug block in your Glock is timed for the 9mm, and wouldn't affect proper lockup with the .40.
Also, I believe the block is also beefed up quite a bit to handle the additional slide/barrel velocity.

I have to agree with Flyer. You can shoot 9mm out of the .40/.357 guns, but the frame of the 9mm is not designed for the higher pressures.

Check over on Glocktalk, this has been asked many times over there.

The general thinking has seemed to be that you could use the 27 and switch from 40 to 357 and back again. I have read articles where someone has taken a Glock 23 and shot 9mm, 40 and 357 out of it by changing the barrel. I would not reccomend playing around with the pressure differences between the 9 and 40/357. Kel-Tec did us a favor by building the P40 on the P11 frame. I am sure that in theory it will work but one thing that I have learned lurking around the range, there is much more that goes into building a firearm than most people consider and considering the mission of the pistol I would not want to play around with that.
