Anyone involved with the CMP? I thought about trying to find a local club affiliated with the CMP -- so I can pick up one of those nice surplus M-1 Garands from the Anniston Army Depot.

Just wondering what all is involved...and if you really can get that Garand easily??

My club is CMP affiliated. All you have to do to qualify for the M1 purchase is shoot in ONE high power match.

I just bought a Garand. It is the prettiest one I've ever seen, very high oil polished walnut stock. I wonder if it was an honor guard rifle. Don't yet have a digital camera or I'd post a picture. Christmas is right around the corner.
