I'm looking for a decent 1911 .45 with lowered ejection port, throated bbl. and decent sights. Looking for a good carry gun with decent sights. I've heard that springfield armory offers decent guns for a reasonable price, about $400. if I'm not mistaken. I haven't bought a 1911 in over 20 years and most 1911's back then were not throated for h/p rounds.
Many thanks.

Yup, you can't go wrong with a Springfield.
Or a Colt either, for that matter, but you're talking a lot more $$.
Pretty much ALL modern 1911s are throated to feed hollowpoints perfectly.

I have a two-tone Springfield "Lightweight Government" Model (not sure if they make that particular model anymore) that has served me very well. It cost $426.80 new (wholesale, not retail) several years ago. I believe retail prices on most new Springfield 1911 variants run well over $500 today, but I haven't priced one in a while so I'm not 100% certain about that. I am pretty confident that you would be happy with one of their pistols, however. Good luck! :D

Even my Springfield WWII GI feeds hollowpoints fine, but it doesn't have a lowered ejection port. $400-$425 locally.

I've seen Springfield "loaded" models from ~$450-$899 locally depending on finish and extras.

For carry, you might even consider a Springfield Champion (Commander size, 4" barrel) -- I already have one but was admiring a parkerized version with night sights for $469 just a few days ago.

Just saw a new ad for a "GI ,45 Mil-Spec" out here at Turners for $399. If it's $399 in Calif, it should be less anywhere else. The ad says lifetime guarantee, which is always a good thing.
