Just some more food for thought....

As you all know, Colorado's Liberal legislators recently passed several new gun laws in a feel good attempt to make sure the Newtown CT. massacre never happens again. Our State Senate president, John Morse, is the target of a valid recall effort to have his sleezy ass removed. Normally our lawmakers will consider one bill at a time so it can be debated and more importantly the Public will be allowed ample time for their opinion.

This time, however, John Morse decided that 5 gun law bills would be discussed on the same day. Citizens and LEOs came from all four corners of Colorado expecting to be able to give their opposition to the new legislation being proposed. There was little or no time given for Public discussion and there was not much debate from the present legislators. It was more like an Obama press conference without questions! You can imagine what the fallout was in the days following. Morse is reported to have said that he doesn't care what his constituents want hence the recall effort.

I don't know if any of you fine folks ever read the actual legislation being discussed in your individual states or if you solely rely on what you read in the newspapers. I'm sure that the actual Bill is readily available online if you know where to look. I would be curious to know if your legislators signoff each piece of legislation the same way Colorado does.

The following is at the end of HB 13-1224 which is the new law for magazine capacity in Colorado.....

SECTION 2. Effective date. This act takes effect July 1, 2013.

SECTION 3. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.

    Approved: March 20, 2013
Notice how the Bill was approved on March 20th to become effective July 1st (3 1/2 months later) but is "necessary for the immediate preservation of public peace, health and safety. The only thing that became immediate was that tens of thousands of people ran out and bought AR-15s and numerous other weapons that have high capacity magazines. Don't our politicians realize how stupid they actually are or is the fact that they are in power negate that thought process?

Most of the talking heads behind these laws really are pretty clueless I am afraid.
