Problems with new to me 1st Gen P32

I have a like new 1st Gen P32 that I have shot twice. On both range trips the slide has locked back and jammed. You cannot get it to release. My son was able to strip the gun the first time and get it released.

I cleaned the gun and cycled it and it seemed fine. Today I shot three mags and when it locked back the third time it jammed again. I cannot get it to release. Right now it is still locked back and I am trying to decide whether to send it to Kel-Tec or throw it in the pond!

What is the secret to get it to let go and what can I do to prevent this from happening again?

Is there a "Fluff and Buff" step to prevent this type of jam?

    Thanks for your help.

You don't by any chance still have the empty magazine in it do you?

Whatever you do, don't throw it in the pond!

Check the left side of your grip and see if it is bulging out away from the slide. This happens when you remove the takedown pin without supporting the grip area around it. The spring then pops out of place and can create a situation where the slide stop gets "stuck" in the up position.

Nope, the mag has been removed and I can't jiggle the slide forward or back. It just seems locked in place.

Don't see any bulged area around the take down pin, and can't push in the frame enough to try to see if that releases anything.

Will I do any damage if I pull the take down pin and try to get the slide off the frame? I am thinking I will have to force it to do this.

I believe my son was able to push the ejector down somehow and get things released. Am i correct that the ejector is the slide stop?

(Very familar with 1911s and other various full size autos, this P32 is a mystery to me)

Yes, the ejector and the slide stop are one part with combined function.

Get the slide stop down, then the slide will come off. Try pushing it down with a bladed screwdriver where it protrudes through the breachface.

It tilts from in front of the breachface, so pushing it back might work better. Try not to force it.

It might help to take the pressure off of it by pulling the slide back while depressing the ejector.

Use the screwdriver, NOT your fingertip!

I just pushed mine in with the back end of a Sharpie (with the empty mag still in the pistol). It takes a good push, and you must use the other hand to pull back the slide as much as possible or it won't move.
