New member here, but not new to message forums... I'm surprised this thread died a few months ago, as this is valuable information!
Big thanks to user Haugrdr for the formula to decode production sequence. I've decided to buy a KSG and I want the most recent production unit I can get at the best price (obviously!).
There are about 250 KSGs on GunBroker right now, and I'm e-mailing sellers for serial #s. I've already gotten a couple of replies...
Few questions that some of you may know the answer to:
1. Does the serial number provide information other than production sequence (e.g. color)?
2. I'm seeing several colors available (black, brown, green, gold, titanium, tungsten, etc.). Have all these colors been available since production started, or were the other colors besides black added at some point?
3. From decoding serial #s I've been provided with by sellers on GunBroker so far, the latest production sequence # I've seen has been 68,999... What sequence number has production gotten up to now, as of February 2015?
4. Anybody just buy a KSG that is late production?
