PF9 mag in 5.11 covert khakis?

    I was wondering -
can anyone tell me if the PF9 mags fit in the front pocket mag compartments on 5.11 covert khakis?

    P-3AT mags fit.

    Thanks,

Not sure. The PF-9 mags are just a bit thicker and 3/16" wider. Which measurement is the one that might be "close"?

    I'm not sure

The pouches on the inside of the pockets are approximately 4 3/4" long, 1 1/2" wide, and almost an inch tall, with some constriction at the opening. Seems like it would be fine, but stretching the material one way makes it smaller the other way, if you know what I mean.

A fit too snug would make it hard to remove the mags - I may just have to go fit them in the pocket at the store and see how it works.

I would rather carry the PF-9 as opposed to a P-3AT (9mm vs. .380 ACP) if I can conceal it.

    It will fit

OK - for future info and reference -

the PF9 mags fit in the front pocket compartment on the 5.11 covert khakis, but they are very snug, and you have to work them in.

But... they slide out very easily, so not really a big deal. BTW - the P-3AT and LCP mags fit very nicely.

If anyone is interested in these pants - here is a link -

$19.99 with a free belt - not a bad deal

Chief Supply also has them -

it may not matter - I may have to go with a P-3AT since my wife will also be using this - I am afraid the recoil on the PF-9 may be a bit much.

if recoil is going to be an issue, you better have your wife demo both the P3AT and the PF9 before the purchase decision is made. My wife almost refused to even shoot a practice mag with my P3AT (she loves her P32 though), but would occassionally shoot my PF9. A month or so ago was the first time she wanted a second magazine through one of my 9mm's (Kahr CW9), and was still smiling afterwards. Also (considering those shooters without rebar reinforced wrists), keep in mind that without the pinkie rest on the P3AT magazine that muzzle flip due to recoil will be very noticeable, and follow-up shots will be slow at best and completely off target at worst.

just my opinions from previous personal experience

    good input

    Thanks surv
Good feedback - I would have thought that the PF-9 might have more recoil than the P-3AT from what I have read, but we need to shoot them. I am trying to figure out how to do that.

The other consideration is being able to retract the slide and charging the weapon - seems like the PF-9 was a little easier - maybe because of the size.
The slide on the LCP and P-3AT were very difficult for her to operate.

Unfortunately, it takes me a while to get "comfortable" with a gun - I may have higher standards and be too hard on myself, but I almost have to be able to "use the force" with a weapon to feel good about carrying it. Right now I am only really comfortable with my Glock 19, but it is not a good CCW, especially in the summer in Alabama. A G26 is a little better, but not much.

    Thanks again,
