Does it matter what grain you shoot. I mean does 55g vs. 62g do anything to gun or how well it shoots?

I'm very new to the SU so take this for what it's worth. I haven't read anywhere that shooting one or the other is going to damage the gun. You should be able to shoot whatever weight ammo you want.
For general ammo experience
If you are looking for 1" groups at 100yds you may have to search/try different ammo to see what groups best for your gun.
For plain shooting fun shooting the same grain/type ammo all the time should keep your POI pretty much the same. For example Federal 55gr may have a different POI than Win 55gr. Changing bullet weight will almost certainly change the POI.
Lots of KT's
I pretty much figured that was going to be the case. But since this is my first rifle I just wanted to make sure. Okay so here is another question is steel still an issue with the CA's. I am really looking at getting a case of the wolf steel ammo I just don't want to buy it and have FTE or FTF's all day when I am out.
Can't really help you on that one, I have an Alpha. The standard answer from what I've read is not to use the steel.
If you have a gander mountain near you look there for some cheap brass cased ammo(Adcom is the brand). Your not going to get the kind of accuracy from the cheap stuff as you would the more name brand stuff more than likely.
I bought some of the Adcom stuff to shoot my groups at 50 yards with a scope shooting from a bench were 2-3 inches. I haven't shot the gun much but I should be able to get better groups than that, so for now I'm willing to blame it on cheap ammo.
Lots of KT's
Wolf now has some premium brass-cased 223 made in the Czech Republic I believe that is still cheaper than anything else in brass. I am still using the steel stuff in my Alpha until I run out. I am using 62 grain because that was the best price. If I went to a 55 grainer, my poi would be higher.
The next gun is NEVER the last one!
Whaddaya mean it's not IN stock.......oh brother!
Carry or be carried by 6.......
I had several hundred rounds of steel cased rounds, and would get a failure to extract sometimes as often as 1 in 20 or so. The extractor would actually break the rim off where it grabbed. I had to keep a cleaning rod with me when I'd shoot to push them out. ( It was very annoying...) I've purchased surplus ammo from www.aimsurplus.com a few times, They got some good deals some time, and have surplus military rifles for sale cheap. (You just have to find a local gun trader with an ffl to have the guns shipped to, then you do the normal paperwork. I got 3 sks's this way from them, and it only cost me $20 for each gun for the transfer)
After I used up the steel cased rounds, I think I bought 500 rounds from SAS. American eagle I think was the brand. (it was comparable to getting them online after shipping; which can sometimes run upwards to $50 or more, and my $ stayed in the community)
There are three kinds of people in the world. Those that can count, and those who cant.
