SU16ca dust cover causing FTF/FTE ? Can I safely do without dust cover !

Very long story very short.
Life's,storms -so to speak prevented me from shooting my SU16ca for the longest time. Finally I got to the range and the above mentioned problem developed. When I got home I disassemble and reassembled and cycled dummy rounds- same problem...
I deemed the dust cover as responsible for the problem, removed it and was able to cycle rounds with no failure.
I want to return to the range and live fire.
Has anybody else had this problem? Can/ could I dispense with the dust cover?'would safe operation be in any way affected?

I appreciate answers and your generosity of spirit in doing so.

Not sure what your talking about, I do not see any dust covers on these rifles. I have an su16b with no dust cover maybe something different about yours for the rest. If it does have a dust cover to protect the bolt like an m16/ar15 then I think it would be fine to remove it.
