    State of Georgia

I love georgia simply because they don't have tennessee's rediculous rule about carrying in restaurants that serve alcohol... as a neighbor to the north with kinfolks in the land of peaches, i thought i'd chime in...

as long as the restaurant derives less than 50% of its income from alcohol sales you can carry there as long as you don't drink.

then they have the usuals, can't carry on school property unless dropping off a child, can't carry at an airport or any federal building; the somewhat odd one was that you can't carry at public gatherings like churches... but after some guy opened fire in a knoxville church w/ a shotgun last year, i strongly disagree with that clause. until they start frisking people at the door to a church, they couldn't know if someone was concealing or not

That "public gathering" aspect really sucks.

It is like an ace in the hole for the anti-gun politicians...particularly (but certainly not limited to) Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin who has already played it successfully in a well-publicized dispute over carry at Atlanta Airport with State Rep. Tim Beardon.

The "gathering" wordage leaves a LOT of grey area which has ccw holders scratching their heads and wondering "Am I OK to carry here..."

Hopefully, Rep. Beardon, who was very instramental in the passage of HB58 last year (the law which enables us to carry in restaurants as well as on MARTA) will be out to get rid of the silly "public gathering" wordage. That is what I'm hearing.

i just like coming to georgia because i can legally carry in a restaurant that serves... mind you it usually doesn't stop me in TN... lol... the way i see it is that if you need it, it's worth the misdemeanor charge to save your skin, otherwise, nobody's the wiser

well i do disarm on campus, bit of a difference between felony and misdemeanor... if only TN were like Utah and allowed campus carry... politicians need to look at the numbers and stop listening to the anti-gun bitches...
