PLR22 500-round range report

Couple of days ago I took the PLR22 out for some shooting and burned through 500 or so rounds...I used four Black Dog X Form mags loaded to 25 rounds each (which are the best choice for PLR22 mags, IMO)

Well, even with the highly polished feed ramp I still experienced the famous 'banana jams' with the Remington Golden Bullets. I'm very disappointed in this ammo, it's given me nothing but trouble. On every single round, the case crimp is too loose and it allows the bullet to spin in place and wobble side-to-side as well. It's really garbage ammo, at least for the PLR22. Trouble in the Ruger SR22 pistol as well, when I tried it. Stay away from it.

I switched over to some different stuff I never tried before, the Winchester M22 ammo and it ran fine, maybe only two issues out of the whole box. In all, I was very pleased with it and recommend that, along with Federal Bulk .22LR ammo.

I've found very little of the cheaper bulk .22 lr to be 100% (actually about 95%) reliable in any semi-auto firearm. In a revolver, bolt rifle, or lever rifle they tend to do close to 99.5% most of the time. The Remington bulk ammo has been the worst for me. The Remington Golden bullets sold in the 100 round plastic box seemed to be close in quality to CCI in the target grade ammo. Most bulk ammo can be seperated by hand and one will find close to 10% of the bullets are seated as much as 5° off plumb. That is definately going to cause cycling issues with most any semi-auto firearm.

Yep, I use only Federal or Winchester as Remington never works in my PLR
