Tried searching , no luck. Is there a lighter trigger option ?

I tried searching the forum and via Google on the interweb, but no luck.

I am considering (after first doing a major F&B) installing a lighter hammer spring, firing pin spring, and trigger spring to try and lighten up the trigger pull. Are there any spring kits or options that anyone is aware of to lighten up the trigger pull on the P3AT ? I am aware of the Wolf kits for recoil springs, but that is not what I am concerned with.

I understand that the F&B should help a little bit by giving it a smoother pull, but from what I've read it doesn't really do anything to reduce the weight of the trigger pull.

    Any thoughts/links/ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks.............................Blake

    I'd say probably not...

The weight of the trigger pull is about all the 3AT has going for it as far as a safety device. It's not a range toy, it's a self defense gun, to be used when a BG is in pretty close proximity. At that range and in such a stressful situation, the P3AT's trigger pull is nothing.

    +1

And making the hammer spring AKA:" Main spring" lighter can open the door for failure to fire.

The P3AT throws the firing pin into the primer and it needs all the speed it can get.

Thanks for the replies , gents.

I understand the purpose of a carry gun, and the DAO trigger pull is more than enough of a safety device, in my opinion. None of my other handguns have the DAO feature, and they all have much lighter trigger pulls. I understand what you are saying about safety, I was just curious if anyone offered parts for lighter trigger pull.

I have looked at the exploded parts diagrams and if you used a lighter hammer spring, you could use a lighter firing pin spring to compensate. I am only guessing here, as I haven't taken the firing pin spring out yet, it might be very soft already. If it is a firm spring , then changing it to a softer spring would allow a softer hit from the lighter hammer spring to transfer a similar amount of energy to the primer as a heavier hammer spring/firing spring combo.

To be honest , I haven't even shot this lil guy yet. I am just thinking out loud here and seeing what the options are. I'll let you guys know what I think about the trigger pull tomorrow evening after I take it out for a day of shooting.

I bought a new .380 recently and finally shot it over the weekend. Ran about 80 rounds through it just for initial evaluation. Trigger was firm and being right-handed I tended to pull a little up and to the right when firing but for the little belly-gun that it is it did well at close range. I'm sure it's like most other new weapons; the more you shoot it the better it settles down and loosens up. Looking at shooting the new SUB 2000 this weekend and while I'm there I'll run another box of rounds thru the .380 just to see what happens.
