    Step by Step

What would be the suggested step by step Mod's one would do to a new out of the box P3-AT? I know most will say just go out and shoot the gun and Mod as needed but if one wanted a do a full mod to the gun to try to head off some of the reported problems what would one do.

Please list links and pictures if possible.

    Thanks!

A Fluff & buff is probably a good place to start. It will give you a chance to break down the gun and throughly clean/lube it at the same time.

I used the following web site for doing mine:
    http://www.goldenloki.com/guns/keltec/prep.htm

I wouldn't do anything else before the first trip to the range. While there, you can check to see if you are getting smileys or having other malfunctions. Chances are, you might not have any problems.

Mainly, you should fix problems as they arise. Many of the Kel-Tecs work great out of the box, so you would just be fixing problems you don't have.

    It's pretty much all here:

Start with the New Owner stuff, especially the fluff & buff and lubrication guide. Early mods might be a hogue handall jr or equivilent and a mag extension or three, as these aid in shooting quite a bit. After that, its all good! 8)

Thx. Went to Wally world today and bought 100 Winchester FMJ 95 gr. for $16.97 and 50 Remington FMJ 95 gr. for $9.67.
Also picked up a Dremel cleaning polishing kit. Probably wont get around to F&B until Sunday night. I'll have to try to locate a Miltec dealer by then.

Be careful of the Wally World or Lowes Dremel polishing kit for golf clubs, if that is what you got. It is an AA battery operated Dremel, with a nylon wheel and a felt buffing wheel.

It does not have enough power or spin fast enough to do the job on the feed ramp.

Get a real Dremel or equivalent, and one of the genuine Dremel buffing bullets. Either used jeweler's rouge or Flix for a polishing compound. The nice thing about the bullet shaped felt buffer is that it will just fit in the breach end of the barrel and allow you to polish effectively for good round seating.

    Step by Step

freddypd: Don't be disappointed if you have some ejection and jamming problems with the Winchester White Box from Wally World. It's the only ammo my (and others') P3AT won't digest. The UMC FMJ that's also available at Wally World has performed flawlessly. Just a head's up. Some guns do alright with the WWB, but many don't.
