Unhappy First range trip issues with new P32 --need advice please

    Hi All--
Have been reading the Forum for a while, but decided to sign up after first range trip with my new P32.
It was enjoyable to shoot, except that it jammed about 8-9 times in 100 rounds, and that spoiled the fun. I was using Fiocchi 73gr FMJ. The gun jammed with the action open, spent round still in place.
I have digital photos, if that would help diagnose the problem. I very much hope to problem solve this, as I like the gun alot
    What do people advise??

    Thanks,
    SteveS

Can you describe the failure in a bit more detail? The spent brass was not ejected and still in the chamber, and the slide was locked back? Did this happen at any particular point, such as the last round in the magazine?

    Photos always help.

+1 . . . But, start by checking the usual culprits.

    1. Make sure the button head screw holding the extractor spring is tight. Don't twist it off, but it needs to be snug or your will have extraction problems.

    2. Are the inner chamber surfaces clean and smooth to the point of being shiny? If not, polish out the crud with 600 grit (or higher) wet-or-dry type sand paper using a round piece of wood as a support for the paper and stroking parallel to the path of the cartridge.

    3. Try some other ammo. Federal or Winchester brands would probably be good choices.

Best of luck! We're pulling for you.

Thanks for replies. I called K-T Service. They offered to send me a new Extractor(?) set, but I opted to send the P32 back to them for inspection/repairs.

Yea, I'm thinking extractor problem. Probably the buttonhead screw wasn't snugged down and it's allowing the extractor to move too much, resulting in poor extraction of the spent case. Could be a problem at the factory with the torque set too low on the assembly gun, that's why it should be tightened by hand, so you can get it FIRMED up good and feel when it's done, instead of relying on a machine to do it.
