    P32 Barrel

Why does the P32 barrel need that silly profile it has on the front? Would be fun to thread up a barrel and make a 32 silencer but if I had to match that silly profile on the front it would be more dificult.

Why can't the barrel be constant diameter?

I believe it’s needed to allow the barrel to “tip up” allowing the chamber to drop, allowing for proper feeding. If that makes any sense, I’m sure someone will come along with the proper terminology.

I think it aids in Lock up, while decreasing any chance of junk gumming up the works.

that "groove" near the front is so you can remove the barrel from the slide for cleaning. Try it and see as you tip the barrel up and out of the slide.
I don't like it either, but that's the way they had to do it.

That's also what the S&W auto's barrels look like too...If I remember correctly.
    Glock 19/Kel-Tec P32/FM HiPower/PT111Pro for me...when I can't get to the Remington 870s/Norinco98 or my Marlin 336.

That "bump" is essentially the P-32's version of a barrel bushing.
When the slide returns to full battery, the bump engages the hole in the slide tightly - if it wasn't there, the entire thing would be completely useless, like trying to shoot a 1911 without it's bushing installed. It ain't gonna happen! 8)

    Thanks for discussing this

Now that I read this discussion, I see the only purpose for the valley/dip in the barrel is for dis-assembly. Not the possibility of silencing takes on a whole new meaning.

probably not comming soon but comming to a gun shop near you.

Putting a silencer on will most likely require stiffer recoil springs. Does a company like Wolf make stiffer springs for the Keltec P32 or will 380AT springs fit, as I would assume they are heavier?
