    replacement sights for P11

Has anyone found a replacement sight for the p11. My rear sight appears to have been damaged or was never formed properly as the dovetail slot wants to cut into the plastic sight as I slide it into place. I took a fine file to the bottom and lower front and back edge (the dovetail) and got it to fit a little better, but now I'm afraid that it will slide during shooting. Not sure if some carbon arrow bond will hold it in place over time.

My other option is to remove the rear sight and rely more on instinct and front sight only. Haven't shot this way yet, but might try it.

Any thoughts on shooting this method. Seeing as most encounters would be close range, does the rear sight add any advantage in a tense situation?

Any leads on an alternate sight(not laser) for this gun would be appreciated.

Kel-Tec still sells sights for this pistol at this link: Kel-Tec CNC - P-11 Accessories - P-11 Sight Kit

At $6.65 for a set of several heights, it seems like a bargain solution. A little blue (medium strength) Loctite should ensure it stays in place, once you sight it in.

Yes, I am aware of the option from KT. I was wondering about 3rd party options. I was hoping for something a little more "solid". Based on my current experience, I don't think the sights are 'machined' for proper fit. But that may just be my unlucky '1 out of x' that doesn't fit right.

Seems like a good niche for someone with some colored fiber strands, brass or aluminum blocks and a mill.

In this post on KahrTalk: XS big dots vs. standard dots - Page 3 - KahrTalk Forums, Jeepster09 shared this image and several others of his P11 with Big Dots installed.

The good news is that it works well for him. The bad news is that he spends a lot of money on his firearms, so they could cost as much as the original pistol by the time you are through. Drop in at KahrTalk, join, and send him a PM. He's usually a very helpful guy.

    Best of luck!

Oh, and here is the manufacture's link: http://xssights.com/index.php?nID=si...ts&sID=handgun

Looks like you will need to have a front dovetail cut in your slide, but otherwise, no big deal. Let us know how it works our for you, please.

I don't think I'll have the work done to the front end. Little too much work and that sight is more than I would want to spend on that gun. That's half of what I paid. I'll keep my eyes open and maybe do a little engineering on a replacement rear at least. Something else to keep the mind sharp.

Yep! Your reluctance (and mine) to spend the usual price of Tritium night sights may explain why Kel-Tec doesn't offer them.

See if you can find some SCCY CPX-1 or 2 sightes. They cloned the P-11 some time ago and are kind of on most Kel-Tec fans' shite list, but apparently their sights are made of metal. They use the same post arrangement in the front the Kel-Tec does (duh, they are a clone). So, I am guessing the rear site will probably fit. You will probably still need to use some LocTite to be sure it stays in place. Best of luck.

I will look into the SCCy sights. Even if I have to make some small mods to the sight to get it to fit. That would save me lots of time.

jwash3rd, I know they will, but I'm trying to get away from the plastic.
