If it is new, it will get easier with more rounds fired. If you are not already, try the overhand racking action grabbing the slide from the side with your "weak side" hand and pushing toward your strong hand.

If that doesn't work, go back to holding the rear of the slide with your "weak side" hand with that arm extended nearly straight. Then, instead of pulling back on the slide, push forward with the rest of the firearm leaving your pulling arm straight. That approach requires less strength.

    Best of luck!

I had the same problem with my PF9 but thought it was because I am quite old (83).
I have no trouble with my other pistols but noticed that my thumb and finger were
slipping on the rack. Just as though there was oil or grease. So I used a pair of those
throw away vinyl skin tight gloves. They sell them most grocery stores. The ones I had were white and looks like surgical gloves. Had no problem racking the gun with one glove on my left hand. I am right handed so only needed one glove for the left hand.

Was in Walmart looking for more gloves and spotted some finger "cots" which are same
material except they roll onto the finger and no need for the whole glove. They come 36
"cots" to a box for about $2.00 per box. Works like a charm. Comes in a blue box labeled "Flents" - "First Aid Cots" - Protection for finger tips. Use one on your thumb and one on the finger next to your thumb. I have fired four times with the same two Cots. That
should do the trick till you break in the PF9. Hope this helps you.

I use the overhand racking method with a quick/sharp racking motion. I also polished and lubed all contact surface (including the upper barrel surface... see image)

I had trouble racking the slide on mine when it was new but it got easier as it broke in or I developed my forearm muscles, I dunno.

    hard to rack slide

thanks, for info, but this is not a fix. the p11 is broken in. it racks easy w/o a round . but to clear the chamber it is very stiff.harder than any other gun i have.
i'm looking for a solution, if there is one.i can and do the grab and push thing but i should not have too. could it be the exactor. i think i'll mess with a spare one and see if it makes a difference.

have you done a f&b? i would work on the inside of the barrel, the chamber. don't take any metal off, just clean it up. sometimes the round is sticking in the chamber. it don't take much.
