Well, since the mod apparently fixed the old ring, he could send the new one back.
There isn't a lot of room for sympathy. He knew the new ring was on its way but was impatient and modded his old ring anyway.
He can find any number of "excuses" to convince himself not to return one of the rings. However, you will not convince me any of those excuses is ethical or moral.
I'll get off my soap box now, with the reminder that he did solicit opinions and I was merely fulfilling the request.
