i have a chinese mak90 that i bought brand new for $199 back in the early 90's, my only regret was not buying a dozen of them.

i used to sell hungarian amd65 kits on ebay before they stopped gun parts, i was having the kits drop shipped from centerfire systems and was making $35 a pop just for pushing some buttons.

I own a wasr 10 and a Yugoslavian under folder. I love the "yugo" more because it seems like its more accurate. You can shoot it with or without a stock, and it's build is a lot heavier. It's fit and finish is a lot cleaner. The only downside is it is VERY Heavy. It is built from many different Yugo parts, so the serial numbers don't match each other. It's built on a heavy milled receiver.

I own two Century Arms AKs, one the AK47... the other the AK74. Love 'em both!!! The AK47 is my go-to-gun if the shtf.

So far, 100% reliable with steel case ammo. They're as accurate as I am! Very robust, have taken multiple tosses to the ground and no problems. Have no issue injesting sand and functioning. Oh yeah, and cheap!

I much prefer them to ARs for my personal reasons of what I want in a battle rifle.

Speaking of AKs, is there a secret to making the drum mags work? I just got one and it broke on the first outing.

totally agreed. if s____ truly hit the fan the AK would be more reliable for longer with little to no care/cleaning/etc. IMO

I have a century bulgarian AK74 with refinished wood. love the gun.. it is amazingly accurate with just the iron sights.
some people dog on century and have problems with keyholing etc... but I have had ZERO issues with this gun. it's super accurate and can keep battle tight groups even reaching way out. and with the 74 the recoil is very tame (basically .223). the ammo is dirt cheap at $140 for 1080 rounds. supposedly the ammo is corrosive but I have left the gun uncleaned for a little over a week (keeping watch on it every day so as not to rust up) and even after that time I saw no corrosion... so take that as you will.

here it is. love this gun. the pics really do it no justice.

edit: I should take a new pic... have a hogue pistol grip on there now.

I owned the WASR-10 and YUGO with folding stock.

Think I would stay away from the WASR-10 since this gun was designed to use a 10 round magazine and the factory cuts the magazine well out to accept a 30 round magazine.
This causes the magazine to wobble around.

The YUGO is really well made but if I ever got another one I would go with the full stock
