    Ankle holster

Hi. I ride a motorcycle a lot and I was trying to find a good way to carry a pistol. I was thinking about an ankle holster. A Desantis Apache Ankle Holster style 62 is what I have been looking at. I will be carrying a PF-9. If anyone has experience with packing on a motorcycle or with an ankle holster please chime in.
    Thanks in advanced.

The ankle holster sounds pretty good. Some sort of IWB holster carried SOB might be worth thinking about too.

My wife and kids for my b-day a few years ago got me a leather vest with inner pockets made for carry. Works good except it has velcro, I'm going to bring to a shop and change to zippers.

I used to have an XR650L, and I would carry IWB just as I do any other time. An ankle holster may be a decent way to carry a back-up, and would be fairly accessible while on the bike, but they are slow to get to off the bike. If the PF-9 is your primary weapon, I would not even consider an ankle holster.

I recently saw an article in Combat Handguns (I'm never wasting my money on that rag again!) on carrying a second gun. One of the methods mentioned was ankle carry. They had a series of pictures of a guy in the outdoors demonstrating the proper technique to draw a weapon from an ankle holster.......using a chair! I wish I could find the pics online. They really were the epitome of ridiculous. If you see the August 2008 issue somewhere, check out page 80 for a good chuckle.

I should have added, "but don't buy it."

Just pick it up, look at page 80, have your laugh, and then put it back on the shelf.

Thanks for the inputs. I did buy a belt clip for the pf-9. If I were to fall (knock on wood) I would be worried about getting injured worse by having that on my hip or back. I wish I could carry that way. When I am with my family I carry sob with my other gun, I need to get a new holster for that one so I can carry IBW. until then I will carry the pf-9 IBW. I got this gun for the summer. my other gun i carry is a 40 USP compact and is hard for me to conseal. I needed/wanted something easer to conceal during the summer. I think I might have to do the ankle thing. Sorry for shooting down the ideas. Thanks again.

Do you live up north? I am from Florida and take my jacket off ever time I get off my bike. during the winter that would probably work very well. Thanks for the advice.

Since the newer computer that replaced my 7 year old computer that went to the great motherboard in the sky has Vista on it, and my scanner does not play with Vista, I took a pic with my camera. Hopefully this comes out good enough so that you can clearly see it.

I've also made the pic a link to my Myspace page where the pic is.

I wonder if it gets to be a bit cumbersome carrying that chair everywhere he goes when he is carrying in an ankle holster?
