Hi all.
Does anyone have any experience or input on what bull weight to use for the 9mm?
I have some 115 gr fmj that are army surplus. These seem to shoot low 4".
I have some 124 gr, but have been wondering if the best were the 147 gr.
They are expensive for the quality hollow points so I thought i would ask for advice here before I buy.

I personally prefer the 124-127gr loads, especially in lightweight pistols like the PF-9/P-11.

I prefer the heavier bullets in any caliber... I'd carry 147grs in 9mm regardless of the gun as long as they cycled reliably.
I tend to agree with Pocketgun on the 124's. Every 9mm pistol (and carbine) I've owned seemed to be most accurate with the mid weight bullet, and seemed to play nice with the feed ramp better than the heavy weights (the extra half a milimeter in oal can be troublesome in some guns)

Living in Florida, I tend to go with the lighter, faster bullets. 115 gr +P Cor-Bons for the most part. They expand more reliably than do the heavy weights, especially from the shorter barrels.
There is little concern about having to shoot through multiple layers of clothing, the first 1 or 2 will break any glass that might be in the way, and I'm not concerned about shooting through any other barriers. In order to shoot me, they have to expose themselves.
I used to carry PMC Starfire 90 gr +P's. Those things were screamers! However, I have not seen them for sale in years.
If you are concerned about being able to get through barricades, or heavily clothed attackers, the middle or heavy weight varieties may be better suited. A .45 would be even better.
When all is said and done, whatever feeds most reliably in your individual weapon is the proper choice.

While that's true, IMO it really only applies to ridiculous calibers like .44 Mag or something similar, or maybe .40 S&W for a petite lady... But FWIW I don't think .45 ACP kicks any worse than my 9mm, granted it may be a bit more of a push but my felt recoil between the two is nearly identical. Then again felt recoil is subjective.
On the topic at hand, I stand by my original statement: heavier bullet as long as it feeds reliably; this necessitates testing on your part though. If the mid weight feeds best, by all means use what works.
